Company Overview
The Plain Sight Group is a unique alternative asset management firm established in 1999. Headquartered across from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, we are proud that Yale is one of our shareholders and that many of our personnel are graduates of or affiliated with Yale.
What We Do
We generate higher revenue, higher earnings and unlock greater shareholder value for our own group of companies as well as for our Fortune 500 clients. We do this by licensing our intellectual property portfolio, as well as leveraging our financial, technological and general management expertise. Together with our partners, we are able to take advantage of a variety of alternative asset management opportunities across the globe.
What We Can Do For You.
We recognize our clients want a trusted partner - one that can provide them with a variety of proprietary one-stop-shop opportunities. Unlike traditional private equity and venture business models, we are able to offer this to our clients because we own value-add technology applicable in the environmental services, defense, medical multimedia and other spaces.
In addition to our world-class intellectual property portfolio, our personnel have contributed to our nation’s innovation policy at the highest levels, including at the White House, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and major national universities. For our investors, this means we can be multi-dimensional in transforming proprietary opportunities across a variety of asset opportunities.
Our History
- Est. 1999; Delaware corp.
- Affiliated with several universities, including Yale and Stanford.
- Initial IP research and development related to technologies for the digital battlefield of the future (approximately $15m in Defense Department funding).
- Phase One: 1999-2004 | Creation of proprietary, next generation technologies in the areas of computational analytics, spectroscopy, electro-magnetics and optics to develop applications geared for the sorting, organizing and extracting of relevant features from massive amounts of digital data; 37+ patent filings; 14 awarded.
- Feature extraction technologies also applicable to billion dollar commercial markets from environmental sciences to alternative energies to multimedia search to financial analytics.
- Phase Two: 2004 to Present | Monetization of our IP portfolio in these markets with Fortune 500 companies such as LockheedMartin (defense), United Technologies (defense), National Geospatial Agency (defense), ExxonMobil (energy), RadioShack (consumer), Strykr (medical device).
During this time, we further built and monetized our IP Portfolio in different ways:
- Licensed technology to third-party customers for cash and equity (e.g., BrainScope Company, Inc. and Everest Biomedical).
- Created and sold digital products and solutions (e.g., LockheedMartin and ExxonMobil).
- Acquired MadMax Optics to enhance our IP portfolio in the areas of electro-optics and computational analytics.
- Provided exclusive licenses to dedicated corporate spin-offs that we own with venture capital supporters to pursue a commercial application for a specific vertical market (e.g., Owl Multimedia www.owlmm.com and Owl Energy).
- Acquired a mature company and increased revenue and earnings by injecting our technology (e.g., American Leak Detection www.americanleakdetection.com).
- Partnered with Leeb Capital Management to extend our information processing and computational analytic technologies to financial analytic products.
As we move forward, our priority continues to be developing our existing businesses and unlocking additional value for our shareholders. To further support our existing businesses, we anticipate working with institutional capital with spin-offs in defense and imaging. We anticipate acquisitions in environmental services to support our American Leak Detection business. Additionally, we anticipate a hedge fund utilizing proprietary trading strategies that leverage our mathematics and computer science technology and talent.
